We are an artistic community looking to unite artists from different mediums. It’s a place for artists to display work, find inspiration and network. A Lyte in the Dark Film Festival will feature the jury favorites from this years submitted works.

A heartfelt and tragic romance, A PLACE IN THE SUN is bolstered by fantastic performances from its three leads. The film would go on to win six of nine Academy Awards along with being the first-ever film to win the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Drama.

“In space no one can hear you scream.” Ridley Scott’s thrilling sci-fi/horror masterpiece follows the crew of the commercial spacecraft Nostromo, who travel to a distant planet in response to a distress call. Once there they come face to face (literally) with a lethal extraterrestrial organism. Considered by many as the most influential sci-fi films of all time, ALIEN stars Sigourney Weaver as the unbreakable Ripley, one of the great female heroes in film history.

John Sturges fuses elements of film noir into this revisionist Western starring Spencer Tracy. Tracy plays a one-armed stranger passing through an isolated California desert town, whilst there he finds that the residents of this tiny hamlet are harboring a dark secret that they will protect by any means necessary. Employing early use of CinemaScope, BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK is a tight thriller filled with menace, mood, and arresting visuals.

CatVideoFest 2025 is a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses. Proceeds from each show will go towards helping a local cat charity looking out for our furry friends.

Kevin Smith, an aspiring filmmaker from New Jersey, was employed at his local convenience store – the Quick Stop – when he made his first micro-budget feature film. CLERKS is a black-and-white comedy that follows two cynical cashiers as they riff about pop culture while interacting with (and annoying) a multitude of customers throughout their day. Upon its release, CLERKS became a cult hit, celebrated for its subversively witty take on Generation X. Plus, it introduced the iconic duo of Jay and Silent Bob!

This 2016 exhibition from The Royal Academy, London is a dazzling journey through the gallery to the gardens of 20th-century artists who designed and cultivated their own gardens to explore contemporary ideas and motifs of color, light, atmosphere, and form. With a prominent examination of the works of painter Claude Monet, this documentary also explores the works of Van Gogh, Pissarro, Sargent, and Matisse.

We are commemorating the 30th anniversary of Michael Mann's monumental crime drama, which marked the first on-screen interaction between Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. HEAT delves into the intricate lives and connections of a team of professional criminals and the Los Angeles detective determined to apprehend them. Skillfully crafted by Mann, HEAT set a new bar for future crime films with its intense action scenes and compelling characters. Presented in a new restoration.

With his sophomore feature film, Christopher Nolan crafted an impressive and cleverly constructed neo-noir that tells its story in reverse. Guy Pearce plays a man with a rare condition that doesn’t allow him to make new memories. This presents a challenge as he attempts to hunt down the man responsible for murdering his wife, as he is forced to leave clues for himself along the way. Featuring a memorable performance from Pearce. Nolan’s puzzle box of a film is an incredibly effective thriller about the nature of perception.

Frank Capra’s classic romantic comedy starring Gary Cooper as Longfellow Deeds, a small-town guy who unexpectedly receives a huge inheritance from his uncle. Jean Arthur plays a cynical reporter who dupes the naive Deeds in order to write a series of mocking newspaper articles about him. A lighthearted morality tale, shot in beautiful black and white cinematography.

Intrigue, romance, and comedy abound in this quintessential Hitchcock thriller. Bewildered advertising executive Cary Grant is pursued by a group of spies and the CIA in a case of mistaken identity. Featuring spectacular scenes and effects, including the famous crop duster episode and the Mount Rushmore climax.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration is set in the early 20th century in the unsettled land of Oklahoma. Cowboys, ranch hands, and traveling businessmen compete for the affection of local ladies. The film won an Academy Award for the wonderful original score featuring the classic songs “Oh, What A Beautiful Mornin’” and “Oklahoma.” (Hammerstein penned the iconic lyrics from his home and farm in Doylestown.)

To help track down the villain Blofeld, Bond must woo a mob boss’ daughter and go undercover in Switzerland to unravel a nefarious plot. This installment includes stunning Bond action sequences and all the expected charm from the British agent. OHMSS is noted for being one of the most grounded entries in the 007 series.

In 1936, quick-witted and intrepid archaeologist Indiana Jones (portrayed with wry humor and charm by Harrison Ford) is hired by the U.S. government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis can obtain its awesome powers. Resurrecting the action serials of the ‘40s, this legendary collaboration between filmmakers Steven Spielberg and George Lucas helped redefine the possibilities of big-budget adventure cinema.

This ‘80s teen comedy-drama launched Tom Cruise to stardom the moment he slid across the floor dancing with his pants off to Bob Seger. Cruise plays a responsible rich kid whose desire to cut loose while his parents are out of town leads him to contact a beautiful call girl, who opens up his wild side. RISKY BUSINESS mixes tender romance with sharp witted humor, all set to the moody synth stylings of Tangerine Dream’s memorable score.

A true Philadelphia movie from start to finish - from South Philly to the top of the Art Museum steps. Rocky Balboa, a small-time boxer gets a long-shot chance to fight the heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed. ROCKY is the ultimate sports underdog movie and features Sylvester Stallone in his defining on screen role, which is just as synonymous with Philly as cheesesteaks and “wooder” ice.

Francis Ford Coppola’s taut conspiracy thriller stars the great Gene Hackman in the role of a surveillance specialist who inadvertently captures what appears to be a harmless conversation between a young couple. Upon reviewing the recording, he discovers that their exchange is far more cryptic than he initially perceived. THE CONVERSATION stands as one of Coppola's finest works ever put to screen, with its masterful use of editing and sound design ratcheting up the suspense. Enough can’t be said for Hackman who delivers a truly remarkable and critically acclaimed performance. Presented in a new restoration.

They must overcome booby traps, natural obstructions, and a gang of desperate thieves in their race for the loot. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, THE GOONIES has gone from cult classic to the quintessential ‘80s action-adventure film for the entire family. Written by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus. Featuring early performances from Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, and Ke Huy Quan.

Dustin Hoffman’s breakthrough role finds him playing a recent college graduate lacking direction who becomes sexually involved with a friend of his parents, the seductive and older Mrs. Robinson. THE GRADUATE is a coming-of-age film boasting a clever script and featuring a tremendously inventive use of Simon & Garfunkel’s music and impeccable acting from both Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. The impact of this generation-defining film is still felt to this day.

The first full blown talkie from the biggest star of the silent era – Charlie Chaplin. Made right before the United States entered WWII, Chaplin plays the dual role of a kind barber who is mistaken for a tyrannical dictator. Taking direct aim at fascism and the Nazi regime, Chaplin employs a potent blend of slapstick mixed with political satire. THE GREAT DICTATOR is a masterful piece of cinema from a trailblazer of the film industry, culminating in an impassioned speech that still rings true today.

Barbara Stanwyck and Henry Fonda sparkle in this sexy screwball comedy about a naive heir to a brewery fortune and a slick con artist who travels first class (in Edith Head couture). They meet when millionaire Fonda comes aboard an ocean liner and Stanwyck sets her trap. Written and directed by the master of 1940s comedy, Preston Sturges.

This black and white thriller stars Frank Sinatra as a former military commander who sets out to uncover an assassination plot involving a fellow war veteran who may have been brainwashed by the enemy. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, John Frankenheimer crafts an incredibly suspenseful and surreal political nail-biter that remains as relevant today as it was over 60 years ago. Also starring Janet Leigh, Laurence Harvey, and Angela Lansbury in a memorable supporting turn.

Wes Anderson’s third feature would cement his stylistic and symmetrical approach to cinema going forward. The family’s sudden reunion is brought on after their absent yet eccentric father returns to the fold. Drawing from the works of author J.D. Salinger, this quirky comedy boasts an impressive soundtrack and equally impressive cast that includes Gene Hackman, Angelica Huston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, Bill Murray, Danny Glover, and Owen Wilson.

Presented in a new restoration courtesy of the American Genre Film Archive, we are concluding our summer Retrograde series with New Jersey’s first superhero – THE TOXIC AVENGER. A mix of B-movie exploitation, grindhouse horror, and a dash of John Waters-style comedy, this film tells the story of a nerdy janitor doused in toxic waste by a gang of thugs. As the chemicals grotesquely change his appearance, he gains super strength and transforms into a do-gooder looking to mop up the streets by any brutal means necessary. Straight from the demented low-budget minds of Lloyd Kaufman and Troma Entertainment. Rated R for intense violence and nudity.

This lighter and more playful Hitchcock classic stars screen giants Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. Grant plays a retired jewel thief living in the French Riviera who is accused of a crime he didn’t commit, so now he must find the real thief to clear his name. Kelly tags along as the chic American who Grant falls for. TO CATCH A THIEF is a highly entertaining balance of comedy and thriller.
