CANCER SUCKS: A BENEFIT SCREENING FOR ERICH GAMACHE Fright Night Part 2 (1988) – World Premiere 4K Restoration Special appearance by actor William Ragsdale! A rare big-screen event featuring the world premiere of the long-awaited 4K restoration of the cult vampire classic, all in support of a member of the horror community. Join us on May 23rd at Cinema Salem for a special horror event presented by Red Shirt Home Video, Synapse Films, and The Spooky Picture Show. CANCER SUCKS: A Benefit Screening for Erich Gamache will feature the world premiere of the brand-new 4K restoration of FRIGHT NIGHT PART 2 (1988). Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to support Erich Gamache and his family following his recent cancer diagnosis. The evening will also feature raffles for special memorabilia and items, with all raffle proceeds benefiting the Gamache family. Exclusive poster prints created specifically for the event will also be available for purchase. Released in 1988, FRIGHT NIGHT PART 2 is the stylish sequel to the cult vampire hit FRIGHT NIGHT. For decades the film remained largely unavailable on modern home video, earning a reputation as a long-lost favorite among horror fans and collectors. This screening marks the first public presentation of the film’s new 4K restoration, giving audiences the rare chance to experience the film on the big screen with a level of clarity it has never had before. Three years after defeating the vampire Jerry Dandrige, Charley Brewster and television horror host Peter Vincent, “The Great Vampire Killer,” are trying to put the nightmare behind them. But when Charley meets the mysterious and dangerously seductive Regine, he soon finds himself falling under her spell. What Charley doesn’t realize is that Regine is Jerry’s sister, and she has arrived with a deadly entourage of creatures of the night to avenge her brother’s death. Now Charley must once again face the undead before Regine’s revenge turns him into one of them. Because this time the vampires want more than blood…they want revenge. The horror community has always been about more than just movies. It is about the friendships and connections that grow from a shared love of the genre. On May 23rd we invite you to join us for a special night of horror on the big screen and help support one of our own. Your attendance will help make a real difference for Erich and his family, and remind us all that this community is strongest when we stand together.

Critters (1986)

PG-13

Presented by The Spooky Picture Show! -------------------------------------------------------------- They eat. They bite. After a pack of furry, voracious alien fugitives escapes a high-security prison asteroid, they crash-land in a small Kansas farming town with an insatiable appetite for everything in sight. The Brown family soon finds their home under siege by these pint-sized, sharp-toothed monsters, leading to a chaotic showdown that involves a pair of eccentric intergalactic bounty hunters. As the town becomes a literal feeding ground, the family must fight to survive the night against an enemy that is as lethal as it is hungry. CRITTERS is a beloved "creature feature" that perfectly balances tongue-in-cheek humor with genuine sci-fi thrills. Released during the height of the 1980s monster craze, it remains a cult classic for its imaginative puppet work and its unique blend of Midwestern Americana and outer-space mayhem. We are thrilled to partner with PVD Horror for this out-of-this-world screening. Based out of Rhode Island, PVD Horror is a premier community for horror fiends, dedicated to supporting the genre through their long-running podcast and immersive local events. Their passion for 80s and 90s cult classics makes them the perfect co-hosts to help us unleash the Crites on the big screen for a night of sci-fi mayhem and dark comedy.

Night Light presents a series of classic and contemporary cult films from around the world. -------------------------------------------------------------- Director Robert Rodriguez picks up where his successful independent debut El Mariachi left off with this slam-bang South of the Border action saga. Bucho (Joaquim DeAlmeida) is a wealthy but casually bloodthirsty drug kingpin who rules a seedy Mexican border town. Bucho and his men make the mistake of angering El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas), a former musician who now carries an arsenal in his guitar case. Bucho was responsible for the death of El Mariachi's girlfriend and put a bullet through his fretting hand, making him unable to play the guitar. Bent on revenge, the musician-turned-killing machine arrives in town to put Bucho out of business, though he finds few allies except for Carolina (Salma Hayek), who runs a bookstore that doesn't seem to attract many readers. Desperado features supporting performances from Cheech Marin as a cynical bartender, Steve Buscemi as the cantina patron who sets up the story, and Quentin Tarantino as a man with a really terrible joke to tell. 1995/USA & Mexico/Directed by Robert Rodriguez
