“Becoming Leslie” Premiered at SXSW Film Festival 2019! Told with unapologetic humor, Becoming LESLIE is a portrait that follows the life of a vagabond who became a cultural icon. Known only as “Leslie,” he shined a satirical light on police accountability and was a liberating shape-shifting mirror for many -- a personification of pure self-expressionism. At the height of his fame, Leslie was found left for dead, leaving the entire city in shock. After cheating death, he makes a comeback but the real struggle begins as his efforts to preserve his own identity are paralleled with that of a rapidly changing city. Becoming LESLIE offers a unique look into life of a man on the streets searching for peace and a true sense of home. FUNDRAISER GOAL: Our Goal for the fundraiser is for general funding and to work toward a mobile location. We need a better distribution site. Why need a mobile trailer or van? Ever notice how hard it is to get papers? What if our distributors could pick up papers every day? They’d make more money! We’d offer Attendant jobs: 2-3 ppl with 2 shifts/day. (9-12 & 12-3 pm). http://www.challengernewspaper.org Fiercely committed to, nothing about us without us! mission statement: To empower people with economic opportunity and to have their viewpoints heard, the Challenger Street Newspaper informs and connects diverse people from all walks of life in the mission to end homelessness.
